Area of a Right Triangle
Area of a Right Triangle Triangle is a geometric figure which has three sides. Every triangle has three angles because it has exactly 3 sides. A right angled triangle is the triangle which has 90 as one of the angles. The area of a right angle triangle is equal to (1/2) * b * h. Here b is length of the base side and h is the length of the height of the triangle. Example 1: What is the area of a right triangle which has base side of length 5 cm and height of length 10 cm? Given are length of the base side, b and height of the triangle h. The area of the right angled triangle is, A = 1/2 *(base)* (height). The value of b = 5 cm, h = 10 cm. This makes the solution, Area of the right angle triangle, A= 1 /2 * 5 cm * 10 cm = 25cm2 Therefore, area of the given right triangle is 25 cm2. Example 2: What is the area of a right triangle which has base side of length 8 cm and height of length 3 cm? Given are length of the base side, b and height of the triangle h. The area of the right angled triangle, A = 1/2 *(base)* (height). The value of b = 8 cm, h = 3 cm. This makes the solution, Area of the right triangle, A= 1 /2 * 8 cm * 3 cm = 12 cm2. Therefore, area of the given right triangle is 12 cm2.
